After Your Lash Appointment
Why is aftercare important?
Eyelash extensions, like any good investment, require maintenance. If you're careful with your aftercare, it can:
- Keep your eyelashes clean.
- Prevent eye infections.
- Keep them looking nice longer.
- Have longer retention.
- Save you money, because you will not need to maintain or replace them as often.
Aftercare Steps
- Avoid taking a shower, washing your eyes, or getting your eyelash extensions wet for the first 48 hours following application. Water can cause the glue to break down, making the bond fragile and simple to break.
- If you don't wash your extensions after the first 48 hours, residue will begin to build up along the lash line. This can result in eye infections and other problems. You'll want to clean your lash extensions every 3 days or so. You can do so by following the instructions below:
- 1. Using a soft bristle brush, brush them.
- 2. Use a specific eyelash extension cleanser or distilled water to clean them.
- 3. Allow the shower water to flow down your face and across your eyes.
- You should also avoid using mascara, even if it claims to be "extension-safe." Waterproof mascara, for example, can soften the adhesive on your lash extensions. If you want to apply eyeliner, go for a water-based, non-waterproof formula, and remove your makeup gently at the end of the night.
- Avoid using eyelash curlers since they can harm or pull out your extensions.
- Avoid rubbing or touching your lashes.
- Sleeping on your lashes is not a good idea. (Try sleeping on your back).
- Heat should be avoided at all costs.
- Do not use oil based products around or on the eyes
Refill Appointments
To get the most out of your extensions and receive the best value for money, we recommend scheduling a refill appointment within the first 2-3 weeks of getting your new set placed. When the lashes that were previously applied have at least 40% retention left, a refill is planned. To ensure that your eyelash extensions survive and always look their best, we recommend getting a new pair every 2-3 weeks.
